Usually when I meet new people and tell them my profession, the first thing they say is “you must have so many beautiful photos of your daughter!” Truth be told, I don’t. The ones I do have however are cherished. They are proudly hung in our home and they bring a smile to my face every. single. day. With life moving so quickly I have to make a real effort to take portraits of my own family. While I finally hired a portrait photographer to take our family portraits this summer (go me!), with G’s 3rd birthday already approaching I decided I had to schedule a shoot in my own calendar or she’d be in preschool (gasp!) before I got her back in front of my lens.
I’m so happy I did.
I am in love with this session. I am in love with this girl. These portraits are the first time I’ve looked at her face and the thought “my girl” replaced “my baby.”
Don’t get me wrong. I was tired after shooting all day. My wrist hurt from editing. The enthusiasm for this set that I had while shopping had long since past and I’ll be really lucky if my body isn’t covered in poison ivy in 48 hours. And let’s not forget that 6pm is not a toddler’s most stellar time of day by any means. But I sit here looking at these images and I feel like I did the impossible. I sit here mesmerized by them. The thought “my girl” is replaced by “my angel.” I captured something intangible. And I feel it every time I look at them. And I will forever.
And I’m so happy I did.

Baby D was so fun to photograph at just 6 days old. He had me laughing our entire session. Although he was super sleepy, he had his mind made up about just how he wanted to be posed. He is SURE to be an athlete because he was so strong he would jump just about every time I positioned him! One of my favorite shots is on dad’s Harvard football jersey. Then when dad picked him up, he looked about the size of a football! I love the images in dad’s hands because it really shows how tiny D is. Enjoy your preview!

Guess what my favorite age to photograph is? If you’ve visited my blog before, you have probably heard it many times. 6 months is just the best. Smiley, happy, chubby, adorable baby goodness. If there were only one other time you could have your baby photographed after their newborn session, I would recommend 6 months old hands down. When looking at the super-cute portraits of baby L below you’ll see why. It is the perfect age to capture all of their baby features before they start quickly growing into a toddler. During our session together baby L was sometimes quite serious and other times full of smiles, so we were able to get many wonderful expressions. He was so intrigued by my camera and entertained by mom and dad! I had so much fun photographing this little one and his parents. Enjoy your sneak peek!

Newborn baby H was so much fun to photograph yesterday. I knew we got such beautiful shots that I really wanted to share them before we head on vacation for this long weekend! For only 6 days old, baby was so awake and social to start our session. Usually babies that young pass right out after eating, but baby H wanted to see everything that was happening around her. She reminded me of my daughter as a newborn. I remember thinking “I thought newborns were supposed to sleep?!” Well after a double feeding, baby H finally did drift off and we captured the beautiful sleepy poses mom and dad had envisioned. Without further ado, here is our last preview until next Wednesday! Enjoy your long weekend everyone!

I knew we were about to have a fabulous session as soon as M walked through our door. She had fabulous style, amazing eyes, and a pregnant body you would never know was already 37 WEEKS! On top of that she was up for anything. This was my first maternity session since our recent boudoir marathon and I’m loving how that experience is informing my maternity work as well. I’m sure you’ll see some influences in M’s preview. Thanks for a wonderful session, can’t wait to meet your little one!

Baby W was one very sleepy little man. He slept his way through his sister’s whole session. In fact, I almost forgot he was there! He woke up for some lunch and soon fell back to sleep for his own debut! Definitely one dreamy little newborn. I was also impressed with his big sister lasting over FOUR hours in our studio! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a two year old make it that long being so well behaved. I can already tell she is going to be an amazing big sister. Thank you for the wonderful day H family!

I have had the pleasure of photographing baby D since she was born. Her parents were some of my first newborn clients. I traveled out to their home in Boston and baby D slept like a dream on my little bean bag set up by their sliding glass door. Later I traveled out to celebrate D’s first birthday with a fabulous cake smash on Bunker Hill. I was so excited when I heard soon after that session they were expecting again! One of the best parts of my job is sharing in the good news of families as they grow. Last week D and her family traveled to my studio for back-to-back sessions. The first was for D’s second birthday and the second was a newborn session for D’s new little brother. D is up first, so here is her sneak peek!

Stop. it. right. now. Just when you think your day couldn’t handle any more adorableness, here are the H twins to make life even more precious. These two were a dream to photograph. I could just stare at their perfect little details all day. Once again, I have too many new favorites to count. I can’t wait to watch these two grow over the coming year. Enjoy your sneak peek!

O’s session was so perfect I want to share the whole thing here, but I must leave a few surprises for mom and dad in their gallery! So here are just a couple of peeks. Baby O was a doll. Perfect little features and fabulous hair. How could she not be? Just look at how gorgeous mom is. I’ll tell you, every picture of me as a new mom is banned from being shown publicly! haha Such a beautiful family and such a joy to capture. Enjoy your sneak peek!

I had a blast with 3 year old R last week. She reminded me SO MUCH of my daughter who will be turning 3 in July. I know they would be fast friends. R was smart, full of personality, and loved all things girlie…. oh, and as you can see, totally gorgeous! Turned out to be a really easy session for me because with someone at home just like her, I knew just how to get her to have fun in front of the camera! Enjoy your preview!
