One of my favorite babies of all time, baby O

is now a BIG SISTER!

Well little brother N is one gorgeous baby too!  I had so much fun catching up with the M family at our session last week and loved having the opportunity to help welcome baby N.  He started the session wide awake (yes he has big blue eyes so far too!)  then finally fell fast asleep for some perfect newborn photos.  Check out that huge smile in the last image.  I’m so lucky to have such ADORABLE clients!  Enjoy your preview!

My second newborn of the day last Friday was also a baby C!  I must admit that I was a little nervous going into this session.  Baby C was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at birth and now wears a little brace to help her hips set into place.  I was unsure if I would be able to accomplish all of the sweet sleepy newborn poses that her parents had fallen in love with when they booked and I didn’t want them to be disappointed with the session.  But mom and dad insisted that it didn’t matter to them.  This was baby C, at this moment in time and they wanted to capture it.  When I met them I knew instantly that they were more in love with this little girl than with any silly pose.  And capturing THAT was a far greater accomplishment!  Baby C was perfect in every way.  Turns out I had nothing to worry about because she was a breeze to photograph!  She loved being posed and smiled throughout our entire session together.  I was certainly reminded of why I love this job so much.  Thank you for trusting me with your gorgeous baby girl mom and dad!  Enjoy your sneak peek.

Last Friday we had back-to-back newborn sessions in the studio.  While that usually exhausts me, I must say that these two girls were both so precious that I didn’t want my day to end!  Baby C was the first little girl I was able to cuddle.  We had a brand new garden planted so I even enjoyed taking a few shots of the flowers during her mid-session feeding.  When I received my first digital SLR as a gift from Shaun back when we were dating, flowers were the subject of almost every image I took.  I loved playing with light and composition and depth of field.  There is something so calming about getting lost in the details of a flower.  Today I feel the same way about a sleeping newborn.  I guess photography is my meditation!  Of course a flower doesn’t hold a candle to the beauty of baby C.  Thank you for the amazing session!

You may remember this gorgeous couple from their maternity session sneak preview here. Well they were back last week with their new bundle of joy, baby H.  He was so adorable he made my heart melt.  I just love the images of him and his family from the end of our session together.  Enjoy your sneak peek mom and dad!

Baby J wins the award for our most awake baby ever at the studio.  People always ask “what do you do if the baby doesn’t sleep?” and I usually respond “well they all fall asleep eventually, so we create other shots during their awake time and go with the flow until they finally drift off.”  Well, baby J proved me wrong.  He actually was awake for an over 3 hour stretch!  So here is a little peek at what we do when baby isn’t sleeping.  Family shots, details shots, swaddles and sets.  No you won’t catch baby J hanging from a branch, but you will fall in love with all of his beautiful little features and the love his family has for him.

Baby S and her family were so much fun to photograph last week.  We always ask parents if there is any special theme or colors for the child’s birthday when planning our cake smashes.  I love the challenge of coming up with something new each time.  I was so excited to hear mom’s color choices.  Something so fresh for us!  Sweet Indulgence made the perfect cake to match and baby S loved digging in.  She was on the go the whole start of the session until we put that cake in front of her!  She clearly has good taste :0)  Enjoy your preview!

Baby L was so good to us last week.  He rocked not one, but TWO hanging shots!  I’ve never had a baby breeze through two hanging shots before.  L rocked it!  And for the first time ever, dad held the stick rather than Shaun.  But dad’s name was Sean too, so I was pretty sure it was meant to work.  For anyone new to newborn photography, images like those are actually composites created in photoshop.  Baby is always totally safe with plenty of hands around and we don’t even attempt it if baby is not in a very deep sleep!  Thanks for the fun session L.  Enjoy your preview!

Phew!  This session was a whirlwind!!  It was almost like 3 sessions in one!  Family portraits posed and candid, individual portraits of the kids, and portraits of the 6 month old twins together and individually for their baby book… all in a little over an hour!!  I’m proud to say we pulled it off and I love all portraits we created together.  At 2 1/2 years old, big sister S loved the spotlight and was a natural in front of the camera.  6 month old little brothers E and J could barely keep up with all of the commotion, but each did eventually give me some smiles.  I don’t know how mom and dad do it!  Enjoy your sneak peek.  Can’t wait to show you the rest of your beautiful family!

What a joy it was to photograph baby M again and catch up with mom.  I giggle just looking at these because M was so full of smiles.  Every time he saw his mama his whole face lit up.  I had to capture some images of them together at the end of our session because of how sweet their bond was.  I’m saving those for their final gallery though!  Enjoy your preview! !

I remember as a kid hearing over and over “I can’t believe how big you’ve gotten.”  “Where does the time go?”  “I remember changing your diapers.”  I’m sure every kid hears the same sayings, and can never understand until they have children of their own.  I find myself outwardly repeating all of these cliches over and over these days.  Because honestly, “WHERE DOES the time go?!”

It seems like yesterday that I held baby K in the hospital at only a few days new.  I had the pleasure of taking her newborn portraits and then creating the family’s Christmas cards.  And now here it is, already approaching her first birthday!  With life getting busier and busier for both our families, I feel so lucky to be a photographer, because it means that many more times we are able to get together throughout the year!  Can’t wait to show you all we captured together!
