Baby C must have already been excited for Santa. In 2 1/2 years I’ve never had a baby who slept less! Mom was so patient nursing him over and over. Normally we can do a lot with an awake newborn…. bowls and baskets, knits and swaddles, and of course family shots. Eventually they all fall asleep. Baby C however had to be sucking on something or he was crying. We did trick him into a few shots. We would let him suck on something and then pull it out to quickly so we could take a few shots. He would let out a big roar and we’d quickly replace it!! We did that over and over throughout the session and thankfully managed to get all of mom’s most important shots. We even got a few where it appears C is sleeping. 2 1/2 year old big brother L was so patient and sweet the entire session. He and I played Mr. Potato head and colored for hours while we waited! I hope for mom that C was just having a growth spurt and he’s getting some more sleep these days! Enjoy your preview and happy new year to your beautiful family!

Baby R was an adorable newborn from early in December. Like just about all of our December newborns, she started the session wide awake! Don’t you just adore those eyes. She did drift off to sleep of course and we captured some beautiful portraits of her all curled up. Enjoy your preview!

We are so excited for our mini sessions today! Just when we were beginning to get caught up with the holiday rush, Heidi looked at her calendar and saw that there would be some free time this week to shoot some minis. Remember that friend in college who just couldn’t enjoy her vacation after finals, instead took a winter course or interned? That would be Heidi.
In order for things to run smoothly we set up some classic neutral sets from some of our favorite shoots and wanted to share a sneak peek. No wide angle lens on hand today but here are a couple photos of what the studio looks like today. The mattress with our IKEA canopy is something new but we love how the images are turning out and plan on keeping it here permanently.

These Pottery Barn curtains are also brand new. With the sun so low in these winter months it gets very bright in here. Also with the glare from our snow, we didn’t want to risk having squinty eyes, but they also make the room feel cozier don’t you think?
And a sneak peek of our first session from today – adorable 4 1/2 year old and 6 month old siblings who loved jumping on the bed!

If you are interested in doing a mini session but couldn’t book with us before the spaces filled up, we will be announcing new dates on the blog February 1st. One of our new years resolutions here at the studio is to post a monthly newsletter… EVERY month. Sign up if you haven’t already and we promise you’ll be the first to hear about our specials and next set of minis before we post it on the blog.
Our session with baby W had a bit of a slow start, but turned into a really great session! He and his big brother were both so charming and sweet! It was getting late in the day by the time we started getting the portraits we were going for, but with the new film we put on our windows, we still had plenty of great light to work with. Have a very Merry Christmas with your beautiful boys mom and dad! Enjoy your preview :0)

Sweet little K was one happy little girl. I can’t even tell you how many images I have of her smiling. It seems she cracked a smile in just about every pose. She must have been having some sweet dreams. Or perhaps it was just how very loved she felt. The adoration of her parents was palpable. I hope I captured at least a fraction of it! Enjoy the Holidays with your greatest gift mom and dad!

We had a very busy week last week and it all began with adorable newborn baby girl A. She took quite a bit of time to fall asleep, much like all of our December newborns, but once she drifted off we had some great fun. I just love the last image with the snow and pears. It’s so perfectly winter but neutral enough to hang in their home year round! Enjoy your preview mom and dad!

I had so much fun photographing these two gorgeous sisters last week. 16 month old A was such a doll and so amazingly good during the entire 2 1/2 hour session. Her little sister H was not quite as quiet as her big sister, but we did get one nice sleepy period out of her where she rocked holding her head up like no other. Seriously. She was up there long enough for me to change lenses twice and take the pose with and without a hat! Champ! I can’t wait to show you all of these mom and dad. Congratulations on two beautiful and sweet baby girls!

We ended November on a high note with beautiful baby B. She started the session wide awake but eventually settled into being a perfect little model. During those awake periods is when I love to get all of the sweet detail shots. I just adore those tiny little fingers! I’ve been working on previews all day so there will more to come as the week goes on! In the meantime we will be holding 6 more sessions here at the studio before the week is out! Enjoy your preview S family!

Adorable baby D visited the studio last week for a fun newborn session with his parents. You may remember their maternity session just a few short weeks ago (here). Well D was as fun and social as his parents and took a little extra time falling asleep. After lots of feeding and cuddling, he finally gave in and gave us some great shots! Mom was nervous about how it went so I know she will be extra thrilled when she sees all of the beautiful images in their gallery. Isn’t he so handsome?? I just adore those cheeks! Enjoy your preview!

I just adore EVERY image from this session. In fact, I had to stop myself from posting more! I know mom and dad will probably hate me for saying that, but trust me, the day you open your full gallery, you will be so happy I left some surprises for you! And there are certainly more images to gush over as baby C completely rocked every shot. He was such a fantastic sleeper and so easy to pose. The glove shot took more than one try, and a bit of cleaning up, but we got it in the end! In my experience baby’s never like baseball gloves, but when you make it work, it is totally worth the effort! Enjoy your preview :0)
