We had a very busy week last week and it all began with adorable newborn baby girl A. She took quite a bit of time to fall asleep, much like all of our December newborns, but once she drifted off we had some great fun. I just love the last image with the snow and pears. It’s so perfectly winter but neutral enough to hang in their home year round! Enjoy your preview mom and dad!

Sweet baby A was such a pleasure to photograph last week. She was as gorgeous as her parents and gave us the cutest little smiles. For only three months old she was quite the social butterfly. While A had an absolutely killer wardrobe, she looked perfectly adorable in nothing at all! Enjoy your preview mom and dad!

I just love this little girl. Her family has been coming to us since mom was pregnant and I can hardly believe that L is already turning one year old! Time just flies. L is just as sweet and perfect as the first day I met her. She’s a little fashionista just like her mom, so of course I’m jealous of her whole wardrobe. Once Kerri and I saw her cake smash outfit, we knew just what to do for her set. I just adore the way these turned out. Hope you love them too mom and dad! Thanks for a year full of smiles ;0)

2 year old S visited the studio last week and was such a sweetheart! Her big blue eyes just made me melt. She was one busy girl (as every parent of a toddler understands well!) so I basically spent an hour chasing her around and making funny noises hoping she would find me entertaining! The more toddlers I photograph, the less I need my gym membership! I’m happy to say we captured some amazing shots of those gorgeous eyes and beautiful smile at the same time! Enjoy your preview.

We ended November on a high note with beautiful baby B. She started the session wide awake but eventually settled into being a perfect little model. During those awake periods is when I love to get all of the sweet detail shots. I just adore those tiny little fingers! I’ve been working on previews all day so there will more to come as the week goes on! In the meantime we will be holding 6 more sessions here at the studio before the week is out! Enjoy your preview S family!

Dear parents of toddlers: you’re not alone. I hear it said over and over: “they are so smiley all of the time, but they just don’t sit still” Every toddler session goes the same way. Often we set up for a shot and end up with this:

But, that is the magic of this age. We try to keep them busy with activities and hope to get some smiles before they’ve run off to discover something new! My daughter is just growing out of this stage so I know it well. When you do get their attention, their expressions will melt you and make all of the running around worth it. Like S. It seems like just yesterday that she was sleeping away on my beanbag. Now she’s on the go and exploring her world! We had so much fun last week capturing her portraits and editing these brings me a great big smile. Enjoy your preview!

Adorable baby D visited the studio last week for a fun newborn session with his parents. You may remember their maternity session just a few short weeks ago (here). Well D was as fun and social as his parents and took a little extra time falling asleep. After lots of feeding and cuddling, he finally gave in and gave us some great shots! Mom was nervous about how it went so I know she will be extra thrilled when she sees all of the beautiful images in their gallery. Isn’t he so handsome?? I just adore those cheeks! Enjoy your preview!

Kerri and I share a lot in common. We are both young mothers of young children who began our own businesses with our babies in our laps. We’re hard workers and we both know very well the everyday struggle of balancing husbands, children, friendships, family, clients, and running a thriving business that must always keep a creative edge. One thing neither of us have balanced very well in the past year is time for ourselves. What mother out there truly does? There are never enough hours in the day and if there are, we want that little bit of extra time to give one more hug to the children we never feel we see enough. And no matter how hard we try, there will always be unanswered emails, unattended events, and unfinished business. When I decided last month that I was going to take better care of myself and make some time for the gym, I knew the only person busy enough (and crazy enough!) to agree to get up at 4:30am 4:45am with me was Kerri. And she did. So we’ve been meeting almost every morning on the elliptical trainer for a spin and a business chat. I used to loath going to the gym, and now, it is one of my favorite parts of the day. I must say, we do our best thinking on that elliptical!
Kerri owns Sweet Indulgence in Warwick RI, right down the road from our studio. She is amazingly talented and creative and I’ve never met someone with a stronger work ethic. We had a fire at the studio in October and guess who showed up on my doorstep at 1:00am to crawl into our guestbed and stay with G while we went to clean up the mess? Kerri. I wanted to do something special for her son’s Christmas portraits this year to give a little something back to her. While we were riding our ellipticals the ideas for the shoot came pouring out. We wanted to create something fun and adorable and age appropriate for her 5 year old son. We came up with the whole concept, Kerri shopped furiously, and her mom painstakingly glued up the entire christmas light background! I must say, it was worth all of the hard work. Even G, who is obsessed with Sweet Indulgence cupcakes (that’s actually all she wants from Santa this year) had to gobble up one of A’s creations. Looks like he’s following right in his parents footsteps! I just adore how these photos look, but most importantly, I love seeing how much Kerri enjoys them. Enjoy your preview Kerri, I know your cards will be a hit! ;0)

Note to self: if you ever have another baby, aim for November! Seriously. These November babies have been a breeze! They have been super sleepy and so easy going. M was a true model. She looked adorable in everything and loved being posed. She rocked it up on her arms and laying on a sled surrounded by snow. Such a gorgeous girl! Enjoy your preview!

This is a long awaited preview so I had to include a few extra! Thank you for your patience mom! Baby C did an amazing job for his age. Many babies are tough to photograph before the “sitting up” stage. The younger they are, the more likely they are to become over-stimulated as well. But, not C! He was full of smiles and giggles for a full hour. He was trying to talk and roll over and he loved playing peek-a-boo. Just a joy to photograph! Add in a pair of gorgeous blue eyes and he was nothing short of a perfect subject! Enjoy your preview!
