We started this project back in early 2011 when we met with the talented Joe Maggiolo (of Joe Maggiolo Media) so that we could offer our clients something in addition to beautiful portraiture for their walls.  While I am able to freeze the moment with my lens through photography, Joe can capture the movement of a newborn’s breath, the sound of a baby’s laugh and the expression of new parents beyond the still frame.  When the H family traveled to our studio from London, they were thrilled with the opportunity to document their experience with Joe and I together.  Combining the art of still and video was amazing.  The results were beautiful and we’ve been waiting over a year to finally offer the video experience to all of our clients.  To create our Birth Story, Joe and I work together at the Heidi Hope Photography Studio.  I pose our sweet newborns and Joe quietly records our session.  At the end of our time together Joe interviews mom and dad and then puts it all together for a video keepsake, beautifully documenting the beginning of a new life.  You can see from just the preview below how breathtaking the outcome is.

We revisited with the H family just last week for A’s first birthday session.  Our staff sat down at the studio just before their session to re-watch this promo, as so much time had past since we created the video.  We were all in tears!  Seeing how big A has already grown makes what we captured even more special.  Mom and dad still treasure their full video as well, as we know they will forever.

Last for today, the beautiful R family. Little O has been with HHP since she was born! She definitely had fun on the beach with mom and dad, and her little smile is just so contagious. Love the shots we got!

It’s been fun for me to meet the clients that have been with the studio for a long time. They usually have great stories of past shoots with Heidi, and know our style so well. This family certainly has session wardrobe mastered! Loved the outfits they chose.

This little guy was a heart-melter. So sweet, and so excited to be at the beach! His mom wasn’t sure how he’d react to it, but after only a few minutes, it was clear that he’d probably live there if he could. We got our family shots at the dunes before letting him splash and play in the water, and barely got him out of it! His cousin R was a great helper, and modeled for me at the end of the session while C was drying off.

We’re back in the swing of things, after a great July 4th! Stay tuned for a couple more beach previews after this one.

A and M were the sweetest siblings. Their second and fourth birthdays were coming up right after our photoshoot, so we got a few shots in their birthday outfits. Aren’t those shirts and flowers adorable? Their other wardrobe change was adorable too, but little M seemed to like the natural look better.   Works for the beach!

That last shot is one of my favorites- all sparkle and light, just like them.

I photographed E and P’s wedding a couple years ago, and it was so good to see them again! I was so happy to meet their new addition, too.

Little miss E was certainly ready for her closeup, and rocked her first time visiting a beach! She loved the water, loved the sand, and was a great sport for her family photos. 7 months is a great age for beach photographs- babies are expressive, curious, and really love to interact with the setting.

This adorable family came all the way from MA to our RI beach. Little M was still sleepy from her car ride nap when they arrived, but quickly woke up when she realized she could run to her heart’s content on the beach. Run, she did! And fast! Luckily, I love action shots, especially on the beach. It’s such a great location for natural candids.

Our Summer Evening Beach Marathon was a blast! The families that came out were fabulous- lots of repeat clients, and some new ones to add to the HHP family. We really lucked out in the weather department for both days, too. It was 80 degrees and sunny, with just a couple clouds.

A session marathon means…a blog marathon! Kicking it off is the B family. We hadn’t seen them since their Christmas Card session with Heidi last Fall. This time, little N discovered that sand isn’t his favorite thing, and L got the chance to (unexpectedly) enjoy the water at the end. Despite that, we got some great shots of the kids and family together!

Last week was my first back at the studio and it felt so great to return to the swing of things!  I had 2 cake smashes for 2 of my adorable newborn girls from 2011 and I couldn’t wait to get started on their sets.  I loved breaking out the glue gun and creating these fun backdrops.  Getting outdoors to shoot was even more fun and baby E was the perfect subject for my first session back.  Totally gorgeous and full of smiles, this baby girl reminded me of just how much fun my job is!  I am so looking forward to all of the sessions we have coming up this summer and we’re already booking well into 2013 so pick up the phone and give us a call if you’re considering a HHP session this year!  Thanks for the fun day baby E and family and happy first birthday!

All of these maternity sessions can only mean one thing- we’ll have plenty of adorable newborns to share with you soon! In the meantime, it’s been so fun working with expectant families. K, P, and their 2-year-old daughter K were beautiful subjects, and the day couldn’t have been more perfect for their session by the bay. This little spot has served us well so far this year!

How cute is little K with mom’s belly? You can already tell she’ll be a doting big sister to her little sister-to-be.    I love the last shot of her and mom…so pensive and sweet.
