I was so excited to see baby A on my schedule last week.  One of my baby planners, A’s first session here was so sweet and classic baby girl.  You may not know, but you can start a baby plan with our studio any time during baby’s first year, even if you miss getting in for a newborn session!  I remembered A’s gorgeous eyes and sweet little smiles from our last session and couldn’t wait for the chance to photograph her again.  This time around, big brother jumped in for a few.  The perfect time to take sibling portraits is when baby is sitting up on their own.  Add a gorgeous summer day and colorful backdrop to two adorable kids and you can’t go wrong.  I love the way these turned out, and I know mom will too!

This little guy was a heart-melter. So sweet, and so excited to be at the beach! His mom wasn’t sure how he’d react to it, but after only a few minutes, it was clear that he’d probably live there if he could. We got our family shots at the dunes before letting him splash and play in the water, and barely got him out of it! His cousin R was a great helper, and modeled for me at the end of the session while C was drying off. :)

Great to meet you, O family!

We’re back in the swing of things, after a great July 4th! Stay tuned for a couple more beach previews after this one.

A and M were the sweetest siblings. Their second and fourth birthdays were coming up right after our photoshoot, so we got a few shots in their birthday outfits. Aren’t those shirts and flowers adorable? Their other wardrobe change was adorable too, but little M seemed to like the natural look better. :)   Works for the beach!

That last shot is one of my favorites- all sparkle and light, just like them.

This adorable family came all the way from MA to our RI beach. Little M was still sleepy from her car ride nap when they arrived, but quickly woke up when she realized she could run to her heart’s content on the beach. Run, she did! And fast! Luckily, I love action shots, especially on the beach. It’s such a great location for natural candids.

J family, enjoy!

Our Summer Evening Beach Marathon was a blast! The families that came out were fabulous- lots of repeat clients, and some new ones to add to the HHP family. We really lucked out in the weather department for both days, too. It was 80 degrees and sunny, with just a couple clouds.

A session marathon means…a blog marathon! Kicking it off is the B family. We hadn’t seen them since their Christmas Card session with Heidi last Fall. This time, little N discovered that sand isn’t his favorite thing, and L got the chance to (unexpectedly) enjoy the water at the end. ;) Despite that, we got some great shots of the kids and family together!

Stay tuned for a couple more previews, then a few more on Thursday!

All of these maternity sessions can only mean one thing- we’ll have plenty of adorable newborns to share with you soon! In the meantime, it’s been so fun working with expectant families. K, P, and their 2-year-old daughter K were beautiful subjects, and the day couldn’t have been more perfect for their session by the bay. This little spot has served us well so far this year!

How cute is little K with mom’s belly? You can already tell she’ll be a doting big sister to her little sister-to-be.  :)   I love the last shot of her and mom…so pensive and sweet.

B family, it was great to meet you! We can’t wait to meet your new little girl soon!

These guys were just the sweetest, most laid-back family. I felt like I was just hanging out with them while shooting- not conducting a photoshoot! As you would expect with 2-year-old twins, most of their session was spent moving- chasing J and L, getting them to run into mom and dad’s arms, spinning, jumping, running, and playing. I bet they had a good nap that afternoon!

The colors that mom chose were beautiful, and went so well with the greens and blues of our bayside location. When I chatted with her before the session, she said that she wanted candids and natural shots of J and L. I love how everything came out- the candid, photojournalistic style definitely brought out everyone’s personalities, and showed the sweet connection between the whole family.

L family, it was great to hang out with you. :) Enjoy your preview!

These two were unbelievably cute together. All I had to do was make one laugh, and they’d both dissolve into fits of giggles and look at each other laughing, then laugh even more. Big brother A sweetly held K’s hand, kissed her cheek, and shared blocks with her. I hardly had to ask him to put his arm around her!

K watched everything A did, and loved following his lead. At 1.5 and 3.5 years old, it’s already clear that they’re best friends and perfect partners in crime. This connection will be so fun to watch as they grow, and I’m so glad I got to capture it for them and their mom!

It was a great day to play at the park, and play we did! From goose-watching (there were literal flocks of geese at EVERY part of Roger Williams) to flower picking, to exploring the Japanese gardens, this little one didn’t stop moving the whole session. I’m glad we stopped at this patch of purple flowers- she loved picking them and giving them to me and her mom. It created some quiet moments where her sweetness really shined.

The Little Star sessions have been so much fun for me- it’s fulfilling to really connect with one little model and capture the different facets of their personalities. And they tend to be great workouts with 2-4 year olds! ;)

J, great to meet you and little H!

When R’s mom called to book a Little Star session with us, the girls at HHP were excited. “She’s so cute, and so polite!” they said. I was really looking forward to getting to photograph her myself.

When the day came, we got a beautiful Summery morning down by the beach to shoot. The girls at the studio were right- she was sweet as can be, holding my hand as we walked to each location. From playing with bubbles to duck-watching, she breezed through her session, and was a dream to photograph. We got some shots with and without her glasses, which reminded me of the ones I used to wear as a kid. :)

M and R, thanks for spending a morning with me! Enjoy your preview.
